30 Weeks

So I had my 30 week check up yesterday... everything looks hunky dory and right on schedule (darn it!). But my doctor wants me to make sure and visit all the other doctors so that I will have at least met them if she's not available for delivery. So yesterday I met one of the men I had never been to. WE waited FOREVER! I was getting so annoyed because it had been almost an hour and I was ready to just leave when he finally came in. He was so nice and happy it made it hard to stay mad. And then he really made up for being late... he let Lindsay be the one to find the baby's heartbeat! He taught her how to hold the little tool they use and showed her where to put it so she could find the baby. She was so excited and it was really neat to watch her get to do it! So I guess sometimes it pays to be patient, right?

"Laying Eyes"

About 3 weeks ago Brandon told me he did something really bad. I could tell he was upset by whatever it was, so after some prodding, he told me that he had a girlfriend.
"Really? So why does this upset you so much?"
"Mom! I'm like in the 2nd grade!! I shouldn't even be thinking about love and marriage!"

We finally came to the conclusion that he can like this little girl as long as he's not hanging out with only her at recess and as long as he promises he won't try to hug her, kiss her, or hold her hand.

So a few days ago he came home and said,

"Well, .... dumped me"
"Oh dear... why?" I asked trying not to laugh at the thought of him getting "dumped"
"Because I was passing her a note when I was supposed to be listening. And we both got in trouble and had to sit out at recess. That's when she dumped me"
"Oh. OK well maybe it's better since you're too young for girls anyway. "
"Yea"
"Brandon, I don't want you having anymore girlfriends, ok?"
"OK" then a minute later. "So, does that mean I shouldn't be laying eyes either?"
"Laying eyes?!?! What on earth is 'laying eyes'"?
"You know, like when you walk around recess looking for girls to love."
"Oh, yes no more laying eyes. Did you make that term up?"
Then he looks at me like I'm the most ridiculous person ever.
"No, that's what it's called"

Oh how I love my son! Hopefully he'll always be this open with me although something tells me not to count on it.

Utah!

After Christmas we were lucky enough to go to Utah to visit some family. It was so nice to be "home" again and let my mom and dad take care of us. A much needed break for me and I love and appreciate them both.

One of the things we did while we were there was sledding! I know not many people feel the same way, but I miss super snowy winters. It's fun, but just not the same enjoying the 70 degree weather in January! I mean yesterday we had a picnic at the park and it got too hot... Lindsay got a little tanned and rosey cheeked! To me, it shouldn't be this warm!!! Maybe the biggest thing that bothers me is knowing that most likely it will be snowing and cold in April when I feel like it should be getting warm! Oh well, I suppose I need to take what I can get when I can get it and just be happy.

Brandon learning to snowboard! He did AWESOME! We will have to see about encouraging this talent! And thanks to Uncle Robert who gave Brandon his old snowboard, it made him so happy!

The Season is OVER

Well, we had a wonderful Christmas season this year. We were very very busy, but it all just added to the fun! Here's some of my favorite pics, in no paticular order.

Lindsay begged and begged for Pixos. She was so excited to get them and she does really well with them too! They proved to be the hit of the day as Brandon and Logan liked playing with them too (although this also caused some problems as you can imagine)

Every year we make Christmas cookies. I almost let it go this year, like I did with neighbor gifts and Christmas cards (I just ran out of time!) but we all decided that Santa really needed some pretty home-made cookies for his plate!

Christmas jammies!!! One of my favorite traditions! Every year we get new jammies. My family did it growing up and we have kept the tradition alive, and I love it!

This is a weakness of mine. Christmas Sunday clothes! Seriously is there anything more fun than buying beautiful outfits and dressing your kids up for the special day?

Decorating the tree. As you can tell, Logan particulary enjoyed himself. He loved decorating the tree so much he decorated and undecorated it as often as he could the whole month!

Brandon got his first bow and arrow set. He was SO excited! We took him out that day and he is actually a really good shot already!

We hope you all had a wonderful season like we did, although I have to admit... I am enjoying the slower pace of January.
