Yummy Chicken Marinade

This marinade was really good! We grilled the chicken and it turned out very tasty and moist. Try it out, you won't be disappointed!

1/4 c. vegetable oil
1/3 c. honey
1/3 c. soy sauce
1/4 t. pepper
2 cloves minced garlic.

This was more than enough for 4 chicken breasts. We let the chicken marinate for about 30 minutes before cooking.

So easy and so delicious. ENJOY!

Happy Father's Day!

I have been really lucky because I have had so many wonderful men in my life. My wonderful husband is the perfect companion. He is patient with me and never lets me give up! He's so optimistic and I love him so much!
And my own dad is another positive male in my life. He taught me to respect myself and to always try my hardest.
My last living grandparent is my maternal grandfather and he has taught me, especially lately, about endurance and having a cheerful heart.
I'm grateful for all of them and I want to tell them all .....

You Belong in 1958

You're fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!

Mom's Potato Salad

We went to an awesome pool party Saturday night (thanks Shane and Rochelle)! I brought a potato salad and there were some requests to put the recipe on my blog. I am not sure what the real recipe is... or if one even exists. This is just my mom's potato salad I remember her making growing up. I will do my best guess at measurements. Keep in mind you can add more ingredients that you really like or omit anything you don't.... and this quantity will feed a huge group!

Potato Salad
5 lbs. potatoes (boil them whole until you can poke a fork through them then peel and cut them into about 1 inch cubes)
10 boiled eggs chopped or crumbled
1 - 2 cups chopped celery
16 oz. cooked, crumbled bacon
1/4 c -1/3 c. chopped green onions maybe a little more if you really like them
1 small container of mayo. (I think it's like 1 1/2 cups)
1-2 T. yellow mustard
1/4 c. white vinegar
1 T paprika
1 t. garlic salt
salt and pepper to taste.
So then just put all your salad ingredients together, mix the mayo. mustard, vinegar, paprika garlic salt and salt and pepper together, pour over the top; mix everything all up and chill it for a little while before you're gonna eat!
ENJOY!

Pandora's Box

So there is this awesome website http://pandora.com/ which lets you create your own radio stations. It's free, it's FUN and there are NO COMMERCIALS!!! I love it. I learned about it from my sweet husband. All you do (you do have to create an account, with a password, but totally not a big deal) is type in the name of an artist... for example U2 and it creates a station based on music from U2 and other music that is similar to it.... I am having SO much fun! I have a Sarah Brightman station, Yo Yo Ma station, Keith Urban station, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, Def Leppard... just to name a few. You can also play a "quick mix" radio station which will take whatever stations you put in and mix all the different types of music. I really really like it! I love listening to some Hard Rock and then the next song is a beautiful classical violin solo. And it's especially great for ipodless people or people with an ipod but no speakers. Anyways, I thought I would share... try it out and enjoy!

WARNING!

there are a lot of new blogs.... good luck getting through them. I must say I should do one every couple of days instead of waiting to post 5 or 6 all at the same time! I'm such a creature of habit... someday I will break all of my bad ones! :)

Lost Tooth

While we were away Brandon lost his first tooth! It was a very exciting dramatic couple of hours, but we ended up with a super proud kid!

Happy Birthday Lindsay!

On May 31st my little girl turned 4! I can't believe how fast time goes by! She shares her birthday was cousin Lily and we were in Tooele and so we were able to have a big family swimming party and her cousin Brooke got to spend the night. I think she had a really good day (I hope). When we were talking about what she wanted for her breakfast lunch and dinner... "cheese pizza" was her answer for each meal. In the end she chose doughnuts for breakfast, corn dogs for lunch and cheese pizza for dinner... not the most healthy day but very yummy and EASY!

I loved making this cake! Usually I have to face my cake decorating troubles alone, but this time my very dear friend Kristi was with me and made it much more enjoyable.

Family Vacation

On the 23rd our family left for a much needed vacation. We went down near Bryce Canyon in Utah. My sister-in-law's sister was nice enough to let the whole (those who were able at least) Gebs family use her beautiful cabin. We took some hikes, did some fishing, had some fires, played some games, watched some movies, ate some food, shot some guns... all in all it was really wonderful to be together (despite some freezing temperatures)!

We're on our way!

Peek-a-boo!

Can we go home yet?

One of the many beautiful views of Bryce Canyon

Cousins!
Hello over there!

When we were done with the Gebs' reunion we went up north to Tooele to visit my family. We had a really great time there too... visiting with old friends and making new ones, jumping on the trampoline, going on a date, shopping, swimming, and enjoying eachother's company! Oh how hard it is to get back to everyday life!

Lindsay's Graduation

On May 17th Lindsay had a graduation ceremony for her preschool. At first, to be honest, I wasn't looking forward to it. I thought it was kindof silly, but how could I argue with how cute she looked in her little hat holding her little diploma. She won the award of "always participating".

My current pain in the rear

This is the view outside my bedroom window. When they were building the street next to us, I thought THAT was bad, but it doesn't hold a candle to having it in your backyard. At first I didn't think anything could be as annoying as the "beep beep beeping" of all the machinery, but they are framing now and I think I might go crazy from the Spanish radio station blaring through my house from 7 am to 6-7pm and the "ham ham hammering " of all those workers! Luckily they seem to get houses up in about a month here so hopefully my sanity will be back in July!
