Yes. Yes. She. Did.

Sophie was born with beautiful, thick, curly, dark hair.  I have always loved it.  It's lightened up quite a bit, grown, and I still love it.  She has come to really love it too.  She calls it her "Tangled" hair.

Today she cut it.

She asked to watch Cinderella, I said yes.  10 minutes or so passed and I hadn't heard the movie start so I went to make sure she didn't need any help.  It took me a minute to comprehend what had happened.  There was a pile of hair, scissors on the floor and my daughter was missing a whole chunk of her hair.

"YOU CUT YOUR HAIR?????"  I admit I did not handle this situation well.  I screamed, yelled, grounded, banished and then cried.  After I calmed down a bit this was our conversation.

"Sophie, you cut all your beautiful hair off! I can't believe you did that!"
"I don't like my beautiful hair."
"But now we're going to have to chop it all off like a boy!"
"I don't care.  I want boy hair."

When she said this I realized she didn't realize what she had actually done because she freaks out if we ever tease her that we're going to cut her hair like Logan's or Brandon's.  I took her into the bathroom to show her what she had done and she started sobbing.

I text-ed my good friend, Erica.  She's a fantastic hair dresser and I wanted to see is she had any recommendations where I could take Sophie, secretly hoping she'd volunteer.  Of course she did and I took Sophie over.

Sophie was really nervous the whole time, whining and asking where I was.  Erica worked her magic and luckily the result is a really cute, really short cut. I wish I had recorded her reaction to the big reveal.  It was a great one!  She was so shocked.  Mouth open wide, and then a huge smile. Sophie loves it! I will too.... eventually.

OH MY GOODNESS. I think I would have the same reaction as you. Weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth! Her new hair cut does look very cute though!

Your lucky! When it happened to Jazz (she was not the one to cut her hair, she had help from a friend, Grrr!) she had about a three inch spot that was about half an inch from her scalp by her ear. And about inch long bangs. It took a whole year to look okay and another to finally look cute.
Its hard to see that beautiful length gone. But it is sure cute!!

All I can say is...she is so adorable! I love her little smile! (can see her little personality!) Its been too long since we have seen you guys. Sad to say, I've been there with the hair cutting. Several times. Lucky you she still looks so beautiful and you have such a sweet friend to come to the rescue!
